The Blood Order is an order of knights fighting the Darkness. Established in -943, is the oldest of the three orders and it's foundation marks the beginning of the era of the Orders in the days of Darkness of the Age of Magic.
The Order venerate the god of blood, Vinatus. Each chapter of the Order have a few chapels (each under the authority of a priest), and a church under the authority of a Bishop. All are under the authority of the archbishop in the Cathedral of the Omjak. Priest, bishop and the archbishop have no power but are independent from the Blood Council.
The descendants of the first members of the Order are called Highborns, are wearing a red belt, and have to be referred as Lords and Ladies. They enjoy some privileges over lowborns, for example they have priority for selecting their Chapter, and the novices they want for apprentices and can't be asked to do chores or any "disrespectful" tasks. At the other hand, the punishments in case of condemnation if far greater for them than for lowborns and after the initiation any offense is punished by being thrown in the Niil, the endless pit of the Omjak.
A novice is a member of the Order that hasn't had his initiation. Most of the novices are children of the order. Novices can't leave the Omjak. Most of the time they are younger than 15.
An apprentice is a member of the Order between his initiation and his enrollment. Apprentice are groups into party of three under the authority and responsibility of a master. Most of the time they are between 15 and 20.
A brother or a sister is a full member of the Order. Each brother or sister is under the authority and responsibility of the Grand Master of his chapter.
Master are veterans members of the Order. They are elevated to this rank by the Blood Council after recommendation of the Grand Master of their chapter.
Grand masters are the leaders of each chapter of the Order. Their are designed to this position by the Blood Council from the Chapter's Concil on recommandation of the previous Grand Master.
The Lords or ladies of Blood, or blood lords and blood ladies, are the leaders of the Order. There are three of them: the Lord or Lady of Branches, the Lord or Lady of the Trunk, and the Lord or Lady of the Roots. Each of them have two "eyes", trusted ancillaries with the rank of master. The nines of them are the Blood Council, the governing body of the order.
The Trunk is the central organ of the Order responsible for the formation of members, the transmission of orders, internal justice, protection of the Omjak, and most of the day affairs of the order.
They are 33 chapters in the Blood Orders, each of them largely independents. The three most prestigious are the red monasteries. Most chapters have between 5,000 and 20,000 members. Each chapter is under the authority of his Grand Master. The biggest chapter is the seat of the organization, the Omjak with 50,000 members. The Great Master of this chapter is a Blood Lords of the Blood Council, the Lord of the Trunk. The Lord of the Branches travels from chapters to chapter with a little number of trusted brothers of the order, returning to the Omjak only for the meeting of the Blood Council 4 times a year at the end of each seasons.
The Roots is the secret organ of the Order under the authority of the Lord of the Roots. The Roots are responsible for the custody of the Kitans, the conservation of the banned knowledge, and the special operations. The Roots is not a chapter, any member of any chapter can be an agent. The permanent members of the Roots are called silences.
The Blood Council is the leading organ of the order composed of the Lords of Blood: the Lord of Secrets, the Lords the Roots, and the Lords of the Trunk, and their trusted auxiliaries, the eyes.
The Omjak is the seat of the order. Is is the greatest fortress in Edengarde, more than 800m high and 1800m wide.
The Omjack is not only know for being the largest fortress but also the oldest. It was established by the dwarfs during the days of the Gods at the end of the Age of Mountains and Seas, the first of Edengarde, around the Niil Pit. The pit's origine is unknown and many magisters have speculate that he may be the oldest thing in the world.
Thousands of years after the death of the last dwarfs, the Shamans established a center of studies of the void and named the place Omjack, the dark pit. The center was abandoned at the time of the fall of the Shamans civilization after the magical corruption. The Omjack was used for demon cult of Kitans and was captured by the blood order in -712.
Being the closest place to the darkness in Edengarede, the fortress was selected to be the headquarter of the order. The first building built was The Church of the Trunk in the Hall of the Highborn, far up from the Nill Pit and deep inside the mountain.
